Elvis impersonator’s show to rock TCA - Adrian, MI - Daily Telegram

Dave King will bring his Elvis impersonation to the Tecumseh Center for the Arts for shows Friday and Saturday.

"The year was 1972. The place was Las Vegas. The entertainer was Elvis Presley. And for at least one person in the audience, life started to change.

“I saw the reaction of the crowd,” said Dave King.

“There was an electricity that permeated from the stage to the audience and back. He had a powerful presentation. And he looked larger than life.”

That was the first of three times over the next couple of years that King saw Presley perform, the next two being a year later in Detroit and then at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, where Presley was not only much heavier than even at his Detroit appearance but was also “clearly not well,” King said.

City couple had Vegas for 'Elvis' wedding on Valentines Day

This Invercargill couple made a spontaneous decision on Thursday night to enter an online auction in which the highest bidder received a Las Vegas wedding package, complete with an Elvis impersonator walking them down the aisle and singing for them, return flights for four people and four nights' accommodation.

We love couples like the Hartstonge's who keep Elvis impersonators busy in Vegas!

Belgovision.com - from the heart of Europe!

"On Tuesday 10th March - a couple of days before EBU's deadline - Belgium's French-speaking broadcaster RTBF will present the Belgian candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The presentation of the Belgian song will take place at Mirano Continental in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Brussels.
The teaser for the announcement of the Belgian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 that was launched on YouTube last Tuesday, soon led to speculations about the Belgian candidate for Moscow: Elvis Junior, the alter ego of 2006 World Champion Elvis Presley Impersonator Franz Goovaerts, is tipped by most of our colleagues. Copy Cat is the title of the song that already popped up on several websites.

Belgovision.com leaves the honour of confirming the Belgian representative for Moscow to RTBF. Belgium's French-speaking broadcaster will give a press conference at Mirano Continental in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Brussels, on Tuesday 10th March. At this press event, the Belgian media will hear the Belgian song for Moscow for the very first time. On Tuesday 12th May RTBF will be trying for the third time to qualify for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest and deliver the first Belgian finalist since Xandee in 2004."

King’s court: Women bond over love of ETAs (Elvis Tribute Artists) : Winona Daily News

"Marilee Barrientos, 53, her sister Cheri Schendel, 50, their cousin Carol Dennis, 67, and Cheri’s 16-year-old daughter, Maia, are devoted Elvis fans and fervent followers of ETAs — their term for Elvis Tribute Artists."

More snippets..

"An ETA should also interact with his audience, autograph pictures and give away scarves or flowers. They prefer real sideburns and jumpsuits that don’t look like a cheap Halloween costume. Most importantly, he should be able to sing. And not think he’s Elvis.

“We realize they’re paying tribute,” Cheri said. “There’s no fantasy that Elvis is still alive.”

Kingly Klush

This article is worth a read - here is just a snippet:

Recently he was named the international champion of BBC1's "World's Greatest Elvis Competition" in the United Kingdom and was chosen by Graceland as the winner of Elvis Presley Enterprises' first ever "Ultimate Tribute Artist Contest."

So what makes him such a good Presley impersonator?"I fit in the same clothes," Klush laughed. "I can say anything we do, it's done with the utmost respect to the original. We don't add anything to it. We don't take anything from it. Even some mistakes we keep.

Part of that mystique was Elvis Presley."Klush annually keeps the legend alive by taking part in the "Elvis Birthday Tribute Tour," which returns to Cleveland today at PlayhouseSquare's State Theatre. Joining Klush at the show marking what would have been the King's 74th birthday also will be impersonator Donny Edwards.

Both acts will be performing with The Fabulous Ambassadors Show Band and Rivington Station. Hosting the event will be original Presley drummer D.J. Fontana, who shares intimate anecdotes throughout the evening."

Sounds fabulous!
