Elvis impersonator's on his way to Graceland

In today's Elvis impersonator news, we meet Steve Roberti who is a former paramedic and Army veteran. Steve is set to compete in the Best of the Best Elvis Tribute Artists contest in Memphis.

"I was scared to death, but toward the end of the first half, when four women threw their bras on the stage, I became much looser,'' Roberti, 37, recalled. "I started playing at the post once or twice every month, and it took off from there."

Elvis Week events announced

Elvis impersonator fans may want to have a look at the sort of events planned during this year's Elvis Week.

Of course the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest returns bringing together the winning Elvi from 20 competitions from around the world.

Last year's winner, Shawn Klush will perform along with rockabilly group The Dempseys.

Legends in Concert to Host Preliminaries

In Elvis impersonator news - we have an alert from the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. It says..

"Celebrated tribute artist production Legends in Concert will host four preliminary rounds of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The Legends preliminary contest locations include Branson, Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City. Additionally, the overall winner of the 2008 contest will be provided with a 12-week paid performance contract to appear with Legends in Concert in its numerous locations."

Hernando County Elvis impersonator Kenny Grube is doing great.. While economy might be down,  Elvis business is good, and getting better, according to Grube.

"More and more gigs," he said in a recent phone conversation. "It's full time now. It's all I'm doing."
