If you're an Elvis impersonator fan, you've no doubt heard of Elvez - the Mexican Elvis impersonator. Good on impersonaotrs like El Vez and Chinese Elvis (I covred him in an earlier blog). They play on the fact that they're not the stereo-typical Elvis impersonator ansd they do mighty well for themselves!

I remember trying to push my way to the front of the stage as the Mexican Elvis impersonator gyrated about in gold lamé, sequins and a Santa hat singing about Poncho and Pedro instead of Blitzen and Vixen, as his Elvettes--Priscillita, Gladysita and Lisa Maria--showed off their choreographed moves. The crowd was all smiles, and it was easy to see why.

This documentary, The Faithul, sounds amazing, and of course Elvis has to be one of the most iconic idols of all time. Good on this Elvis impersonator, Robert Washington, for helping to raise funds for this film. Presley's performance of W. Earl Brown's If I Can Dream came from his 1968 TV comeback special. With Photoshop-like technology, the 39-year-old Presley footage was morphed with recently taped shots featuring 39-year-old Dion, as though it were taking place at the same time as the rest of Wednesday's show. An Idol spokesman said only that an Elvis impersonator was used "at one point."

I did some research and it appears that the most interest that has been paid to Elvis impersonators in recent years was when Elvis impersonator Neil Goldberg of Florida pretends to play at the Underwater Music Fesitval in Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
