This is quite an interesting article from The Tyee about a guy attending his first Celebrity Impersonators Convention at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Las Vegas.

His first glimpse into the impersonating world came at a lively Sunday gospel meeting in southern British Columbia led by an Elvis impersonator. He has since started photographing impersonators..

He says:

"Many celebrity impersonators (or "tribute artists" as they are also called) are drawn into their impersonating careers from the replication of just such a moment: when other people tell them that they look like someone famous."

Elvis sightings - Kuwait news

The world never tires of hearing about Elvis..

I found an article from a Kuwaiti newspaper that talks about Elvis sightings.. after his death. Could these people be Elvis impersonators?

The article says:

"Most people who believe Elvis is still alive believe that Elvis is spending the remainder of his life in solitude somewhere in the United States. To back this up they have suggested that Elvis' middle name is spelled incorrectly on his tomb.[1] On the death certificate it is spelled 'Aron' - the same as his birth certificate, even though his estate prefers the use of 'Aaron'."

Billy recreating Elvis' vocal sounds

That's right, Scotsman Billy McGregor does not like to be thought if as an Elvis impersonator, in this article he talks about why refused to go on The World's Best Elvis.

Which is one reason he refused the BBC when they came calling. "The BBC called me a few times to appear on the programme The World's Best Elvis, but I turned it down," he reveals."The world's best Elvis is Elvis himself, but unfortunately he's dead. I don't want to pretend to be something I'm not."Nevertheless, McGregor and his band aim to recreate the concerts that Elvis himself performed, although until recently, looking the part was not always on the agenda.

Elvis Presley Enterprises has planned another contest for 2008.

The website says:

"EPE is bringing the contest back again in 2008 and once again looking for the Elvis tribute artist that "best represents the legacy of Elvis Presley." Tribute artists will receive the opportunity to compete in preliminary rounds of the competition in various locations around the world for their chance to win a spot in the semi-finals that will take place in Memphis during Elvis Week 2008 in August."

Elvis impersonator fights it out in court with Beatles fan

A legal battle between an Elvis devotee and a Beatles fan was settled out of court late last month.

Owners of two neighbouring world famous London memorabilia shops are locked in a battle after working side by side for seven years.

"The two Baker Street shops, which attract music fans and tourists from all over the world, have been sharing a joint lease, for the last seven years.
